The sea, boating and fishing has been a passion of Nik’s for over 40 years. He turned this passion into a reality and took to the Hauraki Gulf in earnest skippering and guiding in this amazing fishery.
During this time he has developed a business and good following around lure fishing (all 500+ charters so far were bait free and teaching clients how to find and catch fish on lures).
Nik’s team won the inaugural “Berkley Gulp softbait competition” in 2006 (5 fish measuring in at a total length of 3.5mtrs).
In August of 2020 Nik made Northland his home. Nik is looking at passing the lure fishing knowledge he has learnt, onto Northlanders.
Nik has been fishing regularly around the Northland coast for the past year with “lures only” to learn the area. While the fishing is different up here the techniques that I have learnt have worked well and I have managed some XOS snapper on lures.
